2011 WorldSkills BBM Youth Support Team
The importance of Australia maintaining and developing trade skills can’t be underestimated. We share the vision of WorldSkills Australia – “To contribute to sustainable economic prosperity through the development, recognition and promotion of excellence in skills.” WorldSkills Australia (WSA) aims to develop and nurture the skills of Australia’s youth.
Every two years BBM provides funding to allow up to 19 young skilled Australians the opportunity to attend an intensive two-week leadership and development program with Mission Performance in the UK. Following the course many stay in the UK working in their chosen field to broaden their skills and experience before returning to Australia. They are also able to travel, make life-long friends and have the experience of a lifetime!
Their leadership and development course provides them many challenging scenarios which they have to resolve as a team. One of the most exciting (scary?) is the “trapped in a sinking ship” simulator at HMS Raleigh!
