3 Tips for a Successful Work Experience

A trip as big and important as your BBM Global Industry Scholarship experience can seem daunting and overwhelming. Luckily for you, we have complied three of the most common tips given by past awardees. Use their advice to get the best out of your trip.
Research!
Planning your trip before you go is essential. Research the industry you’re entering and find work placement that will suit both your interests and needs.Aside from researching your industry you will also need to learn about the place you’re visiting. Researching how to use their public transport and organising necessary passes before your arrival will save time, stress and effort. It is also worthwhile to educate yourself on cultural differences and customs.
Make a good first impression
It’s cliché for a reason, first impressions matter. On your first day you want to set the tone for the rest of your placement. So, BE ON TIME!Arrive a little early – but don’t impose yourself if they’re not quite ready for you yet – and make sure you look sharp. Show an eagerness to get going and an enthusiasm for the industry you are in. If your open and approachable from the get-go its likely more opportunities will come your way.
Ask Questions
Its easy to feel like you’re being incredibly annoying when you ask lots of questions, but employers are usually receptive to individuals who take an interest. Often this means they are eager share their knowledge with you.Having said that, don’t be too obvious with your questions. If it’s something you can easily figure out with a quick Google search, then demonstrate your resourcefulness and tackle the problem yourself.
