BBM and Sydney FC have a great start to the season

This year’s Sydney FC line up features three BBM Youth Support awardees in Brett Emerton, Joel Chianese and Pedj Bojic. After a worrying pre-season build up, a 2 – 0 win in the first match, including a goal from Joel Chianese, was a great boost for the team.

Other exciting news is that BBM Youth Support Awardee Paul Reid has been appointed as Sydney FC’s Community Football Officer. Paul has played professional football in England and Australia for many years. Paul’s new role is to take football into the community and inspire the next generation of young kids to play the game. In many of the schools he visits the kids come from disadvantaged backgrounds so his visits provide a rare opportuity for them to receive coaching from a professional player.

There are many other BBM Youth Support players currently competing around the world or in the A League. Harry Kewell, Luke Wilkshire, Nigel Boogaard, Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Iain Ramsay to name a few!

The latest BBM Youth Support Football Awardee George Blackwood is currently over in England training with Colchester United. Hopefully he impresses as much as last year’s awardee Patrick O’Shea who has been offered a contract with Colchester United and is heading back to the UK to follow his dream of becoming a professional footballer.
