Meet BBM Awardee Joe Ussher

Joe Ussher, 2018 BBM Youth Award for Trade
“To be immersed in a challenging environment”: Joe Ussher, Auto-electricial student of TAFE New England, centres his career, goals and future plans around this philosophy.
With a curious eye and open mind, Joe already has a comprehensive plan for his BBM Award journey to the UK: “Whether it be repairs and maintenance in the heavy sector or the high end repairs and development of new luxury vehicles I want to be able to develop my skills and continue to grow as a tradesman. As environmental restrictions continue and the need for more efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles increases in demand, the development of electric vehicles and battery technology will increase exponentially”.
The 2018 WorldSkills medallist plans to return to Australia, upskilled with new experiences that will allow him “to teach the next generation of upcoming tradespersons and assist existing technicians with the new skills” he’s learnt.
We are thrilled when awardees like Joe take their award journey to advance sustainability and innovation in their field.
