Quality Education and Opportunity

TAFE Students shine in 2018 BBM Youth Support Awards
This year’s BBM Youth Support Awardees included 12 students and recent graduates from TAFE NSW, two from TAFE Queensland and one from TasTAFE across the categories of trades, agriculture and horticulture.
Through the awards these young professionals now have the opportunity to take their skills overseas. International work experience is a unique opportunity for them to grow both professionally and personally.
The BBM judging panel selects outstanding candidates who demonstrate not only excellent skills but also ambition and industry leadership potential. The successful applicants had already proven their skills as apprentices, TAFE students and in several cases as medallists at the WorldSkills National competition. They also stood out through their keen interest in giving back to their community and profession.
This is the key to becoming a BBM Awardee. We reach beyond producing skilled professionals to creating leaders and mentors for young Australians in industry.
We are thrilled to see the excellence in young people coming to us from TAFE and other training providers. It is a true testimony to the quality of training that our future industry leaders receive.
BBM’s role is now to give these young professionals a once in a lifetime opportunity to take their skills overseas. They can experience the best the world has to offer and return with confidence to inspiration to energise their community and their industry.

These kind of development opportunities are all too rare for the young people of Australia. We believe that successful young people create more opportunities for themselves and others. Since the awards started in 1984, many of our alumni have brought back skills and new perspectives to Australia. This in turn has inspired many other young people to go out there and fulfil their potential. It’s a ripple effect that will create a better future for Australia, and we’re proud to be a part of this.
There will be separate announcements for each of the 2018 BBM Youth Support Awards categories, trade, agriculture, horticulture and performing arts.
